This site is a personal portfolio. It collects very little: anonymized page views, click events on major navigation, and basic device info (screen size, country) — and only if you've consented to analytics cookies via the consent banner.

Beyond that, only what you choose to give me: your email address if you ask to hear about new writing, and a name if you put a score on the offline game's leaderboard. Both are explained below.

No personal account creation, no marketing pixels, no third-party advertising trackers.

I don't sell your data or share it with anyone beyond the services listed below, each of which only handles its own part. Google Analytics is used only when you consent, and IP addresses are anonymized at collection.

If you ask to be told when new writing is published, your email address is sent to Buttondown, the service that sends those emails. It's stored there along with which post you asked about, and the IP address you signed up from, which Buttondown uses to block automated sign-ups.

I only use your address to tell you about new writing. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or you can email me and I'll remove you.

When you lose your connection, this site shows an offline page with a small game. The game keeps a few things on your device: your best score, your sound and music settings, the last name you typed, a copy of the leaderboard, and any scores waiting to be posted while you're offline. None of it leaves your device unless you post a score.

Posting to the leaderboard is optional. If you do, the name you type, your score, lines cleared, level and the time are stored with Netlify, this site's host, and shown publicly to everyone who plays. Use a nickname if you'd rather not use your real name. Only the all-time top 10 is kept: when a score drops off the board, it's deleted. Your IP address isn't stored with your score. To have an entry removed sooner, email me.

So pages load quickly and the offline page can appear when your connection drops, your browser keeps a copy of this site's code, images and fonts (a service worker and its cache). It holds no personal data and is never sent anywhere. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes it.

This site stores a few things in your browser:

• —Necessary: stores your consent choice locally. Set on first visit.
• —Analytics: set by Google Analytics 4 only after explicit consent. You can revoke at any time by clearing your browser's storage for this site.
• —Site features: the offline copy and game data described above, plus a note that you've seen the intro animation, which is cleared when you close the tab. None of these track you.

• —Netlify: hosts the site and runs the leaderboard. Like any web host, its servers see your IP address when your browser requests a page.
• —Google Analytics: measures visits, only with your consent.
• —Buttondown: sends email notifications, only if you sign up.
• —Apple: the music player on the hobbies page plays 30-second previews and shows cover art from Apple's servers, which see your IP address when they load.
